Student Scholarships, Connect: Student Journalism Project

Leroy Aarons, Kay LongcopeNLGJA is accepting applications for student the Leroy F. Aarons Scholarship, Kay Longcope Scholarship and the Connect: Student Journalism Project.

These opportunities are available to both undergraduate and graduate students.

Applications are due May 31, 2016 for all three programs.

The Leroy F. Aarons and the Kay Longcope scholarships are awarded annually to students who demonstrate a commitment to providing fair and accurate coverage of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. Connect provides real-world experience to students considering a career in journalism..

Leroy F. Aarons dedicated his life to journalism. He believed that the LGBT community could advance if the news media fairly and accurately portrayed the lives of LGBT individuals and their issues. This simple but visionary idea became the foundation for NLGJA. His legacy continues with these academic programs.
