In lieu of our usual mixer, this month we decided to partner up with the QFilm Festival in Long Beach to be the media sponsors for their screening of “KIKI.”
The film provides viewers with an intimate look at the daily lives of a group of young queer people of color who perform and thrive in New York’s “Kiki” ballroom scene.
“KIKI” will undoubtedly spark conversations surrounding the Black and Trans Lives Matter movements and the social function of the ballroom scene as an alternate family structure for queer people of color.
The QFilm Festival has been Long Beach’s longest-running film festival since 1993. Every year, the festival presents feature films, documentaries and short films that embody the rich diversity and experiences of the lesbian, gay, transgender and queer community.
The screening will take place on Sept. 10, 2016 at the Art Theatre in Long Beach.

We hope to see you there! This is one of those movies that deserve an audience, especially as it was made for queer people by queer people.
